Thank you all for a wonderful response to the launch of our online Q&A masterclass series, TAPS Online! Read on for a personal message from the mastermind behind TAPS, Ted Atkatz, about the mission and inspiration of the program:
"Given our current realities due to COVID-19, I felt that creating TAPS Online was a logical step. Until now, TAPS has been a traveling percussion seminar, having been held in Long Beach, California; Sidney, Maine; Auckland, New Zealand; and Adelaide, Australia. While sheltering in place, we needed to connect without traveling.
Staying connected to the percussion community feels essential now, and the format of online meetings allows us to get information from the experts, wherever we are in the world. It's a thrill for me to interview people in the industry who are immensely talented, smart, and have a lot to say; some are colleagues, some are friends, some are students, some are teachers, and many of them fit ALL of these categories. I've asked these particular artists to participate because I have massive respect for them, and have questions that I want to ask them.
I love the format because everyone in the "room" can participate. My intention is to ask every question presented by participants; the more challenging the question, the better. Mostly, I want participants to get the information they are looking for. Your participation and donations to TAPS are invaluable; TAPS Online is for you and because of you.
Thank you for being a part of our community!"
