When I started TAPS in 2015, my goal was to create a world-class music seminar that gave aspiring percussionists insights into music that they might not otherwise receive. As a student, I had exceptional teachers, including Tom Gauger, Will Hudgins, and the late Alan Abel. Without them, I would not have had a career as a professional musician. With TAPS, one of my goals was to pass along the insight I received as a student to future generations.
TAPS in Seoul was born out of this desire. Our faculty come from the same educational lineage: the Alan Abel school. Mr. Abel’s critical thinking combined with innate musicality and sensitivity guided his students to success. Now, working together with Ed Choi and Wonsuk Lee, I envision TAPS Seoul as both a tribute to Alan Abel and a percussion seminar that will drive a young generation of percussionists to succeed in music. I know this will be a unique experience for all of those who attend!
TAPS in Seoul will feature masterclasses, sectionals, audition coachings, private lessons, a mock audition with prizes and more!
